Rainbow Hospice Care is a community-based non-profit organization that provides a full spectrum of in-home and inpatient care services for terminally ill patients and their families living in Jefferson County and in portions of the six surrounding counties in south-central Wisconsin.

Our mission is to provide comfort, care, and meaning throughout the end-of-life journey. Headquartered in Jefferson WI, with a state-of-the-art inpatient center in Johnson Creek, Rainbow Hospice Care was founded in 1990 and serves patients with any type of life-limiting illness and a life expectancy of six months or less.  All patients and their loved ones are treated with respect, kindness, and concern—while focusing on quality of life and dignity with care that is specifically tailored to each individual’s unique needs and wishes.

Karen Carrig

President/CEO

Karen Carrig has been the President and CEO of Rainbow Hospice Care since 1997, transforming it from a small volunteer organization to an island of excellence for end-of-life care.

Carol Brown

VP of Quality and Clinical Ops

Carol has been with Rainbow for 14 years, in her role she Provides overall planning, direction, and education for all quality and clinical activities within the organization.

Angie Zastrow

Inpatient Center Team Leader

Her tenth year in hospice, Angie Zastrow oversees all clinical staff at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.

Mindy Triebold

Director of Social Services

As a Respecting Choices Certified First Steps® advance care planning instructor, Mindy is an expert at guiding patients and families in end-of-life decision making and providing support and services to families facing loss.  

Christa Drays

Nursing Services Manager

Christa is responsible for the overall planning, management and supervision of all nursing services provided by Rainbow Hospice Care clinical home care staff.

Debby Boyd

Director of Access and Outreach

In her 16th year at Rainbow Hospice Care, Debby leads the marketing team while focusing on clinical outreach and business development.

Michael Bernhagen

Director of Community Engagement

A member of the Rainbow Hospice Care marketing team for 10 years, Michael Bernhagen co-created the Emmy nominated documentary series Consider the Conversation.
